USTA Recreational Coaches Workshop (RCW)
If
you are planning on assisting with a tennis program this
summer, sign up to attend this workshop on Sunday, June 1,
9:00–3:00 pm at Sports & Fitness Edge (SFE),
Essex, Jct. It will focus on teaching beginners and will be
taught by Mike Kolendo, a USPTA certified teaching pro and
nationally trained RCW instructor. The cost, which includes
lunch, is $ 40.00 before Friday 5/12 and $50.00 after 5/12.

Junior Team Tennis If you are a
junior interested in playing on a team this summer, you are
invited to play on a team in one of the two Vermont
leagues. Junior Team Tennis is a USTA national program,
which consists of co-ed teams that are comprised of 14 and
under or 18 and under juniors in one of two skill
divisions: intermediate (2.0–3.0) or advanced (3.5

USTA Junior Team Tennis State Championships - AUGUST
1-3 Teams from each
league will be invited to the championships based on league
standing and space availability. Call Nick Marchand with
any questions about team entry and fees. The 18 & Under
Division will play all matches on Friday, August 3, after 5
pm. Both SFE South Burlington and SFE Essex may be used if
a large number of teams enter. The 14 & Under Division
will begin on Saturday morning at 9 am, go throughout the
day until 5 or 6 pm, and then continue on Sunday morning
from 9–2 pm.

Annual USTA Vermont Grassroots Tennis Camp
To
be held Monday and Tuesday, August 4–5 at the
Windridge Teela-Wooket Tennis Camp in Roxbury, Vermont. If
you are a low intermediate player 12–14 years old and
would love the opportunity to participate in two intensive
days of tennis at a real tennis camp, you may be eligible
to attend the USTA Vermont Grassroots Tennis Camp. The camp
is limited to 45 campers, all nominated by their
instructors/pros. Sportsmanship is a major criterion for
selection. Vermont pros/instructors give their time to the
camp. The total cost of the camp is $60.00. If you are

Rogers Cup in Montreal This year the
WTA comes to Montreal! The Rogers Cup starts on July 28.
The top women professionals will be there. It is always a
great event and not far away for most Vermonters. So if you
have a chance to go, you will see some great tennis in a
beautiful setting.
